RBB advised on the acquisition of APPE by Plastipak of the USA. Both companies are mainly active in the manufacturing of plastic preforms made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resins, which are tube-shaped intermediary products ultimately molded into PET bottles. RBB advised in relation to market definition and closeness of competition, conducting inter alia an analysis of bidding data, and a win/loss analysis. The merger was cleared unconditionally by DG Comp at Phase I. RBB worked alongside lawyers, Simmons & Simmons, advisers to Plastipak.
