The Albania Competition Authority closes cartel investigation

On 23 July, the Albania Competition Authority decided to close the investigation for alleged concerted practices in the supply of cement. The practices at issue involved domestic Albanian producers and importers, which allegedly coordinated price increases in February and March 2012. Following the hearing with the main companies under investigation, the authority concluded that parallel behaviour in this case did not constitute proof of a cartel agreement.  The authority will continue to monitor the sector but no fine was imposed. RBB advised Antea Cement, a subsidiary of Titan during the hearing before the authority, working alongside White & Case and Wolf Theiss.
