On 19 July 2013, the German Federal Cartel Office (BKartA) announced its decision to approve the acquisition of the German cash services business of Brink’s by Prosegur, subject to commitments. The transaction combines two of the leading providers of cash services in Germany. After a detailed investigation, the BKartA concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns outside of metropolitan area of Berlin, and that the commitments offered would allow sustainable competition in Berlin itself. RBB Economics advised Prosegur during the course of the BKartA’s investigation, working alongside Clifford Chance in Dusseldorf.
