Walter Núñez

Walter Nuñez is a Senior Associate at RBB Economics, based in Brussels. Before joining RBB in February 2022, Walter was an Economist at the Chilean Competition Authority (FNE) in the Mergers and Antitrust divisions, respectively.

Walter holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Georgetown University and an MSc in Economics of Markets and Organization from Toulouse School of Economics.

Before joining RBB in February 2022, Walter worked for several years at the Fiscalía Nacional Económica (FNE), the Competition Authority of Chile, four years in the Antitrust division and two years in the Mergers division.

His experience spans various cases and conducts, from the antitrust analysis of the abuse of dominance (predatory pricing, bundling, tying, rebates schemes, etc.) to the substantive assessment of mergers. In Chile, examples of cases he worked on are the Lawsuit against LATAM Airlines for non-compliance with the seventh condition of Resolution 37/2011 TDLC; LATAM Airlines – IAG & American Airlines (Joint Venture); Metso – Outotec (Merger); and Agrosuper – Aquachile (Merger).

He has extensive experience working in multidisciplinary groups (economists and lawyers), and his main areas of specialization are competition policy, economic regulation, and applied econometrics.

At RBB, his work has been primarily related to damages quantification, merger analysis (Phase I and II), and competition risk assessment.

Walter holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Georgetown University and an MSc in Economics of Markets and Organization from Toulouse School of Economics.

A Chilean national, he is fluent in Spanish and English.
