
Sergey Khodjamirian is a Partner at RBB Economics. Sergey has over 15 years of experience in competition economics. He specialises in advising clients on merger control and behavioural matters before the European Commission and national competition authorities.
Before joining RBB in 2025 he served as Vice President at Compass Lexecon and Deputy Head of their Copenhagen Office.
Sergey has worked on a number of complex and high-stakes transactions before the European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority. For example, Sergey has been involved in advising on a number of high-profile Phase II mergers includingVodafone/Three, Deutsche Börse / London Stock Exchange and Bayer / Monsanto. He also advised on the GSK / Novartis merger before the European Commission, which was cleared in Phase I and won the GCR Matter of the Year 2015.
In behavioural matters, notable engagements include the European Commission’s information exchange investigation in the salmon industry and the Amazon Marketplace investigation, which won the GCR 2023 European behavioural matter of the year. Sergey has experience analysing a variety of price and non-price conduct, such as MFNs, excessive pricing, rebates, price discrimination, and predatory pricing.
He has also worked on several matters with a Nordic focus, including merger cases such as the Finn/Nettbil appeals before the Norwegian courts, PMI/Swedish Match, Lantmännen/Sponmill, Valmet/Neles, Widex/Sivantos, and Compass Group/Fazer Food Services, as well as behavioural matters such as the Totalkredit exclusivity case and the Nokas v Loomis case.
Sergey has worked across a range of industries including e-commerce digital platforms, financial markets, fast moving consumer goods, mining, pharma, medical devices, and transport. Clients he has worked for include Rio Tinto, Schibsted, Bloomberg, Mondelez, Glencore, Mowi, Philip Morris, Nasdaq, Barry Callebaut and Coca-Cola.
Sergey is listed as a Future Leader in Lexology’s directory of competition economists (2023, 2024, 2025) and won the Lexology Client Choice award in the ‘Denmark - Competition Economists’ category in 2024.
He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BSc Economics from the University of Southampton.
