Pauline Affeldt is an Associate Principal in the Berlin office of RBB Economics. She joined RBB in 2025 after having worked six years on competition matters at another leading economic consultancy in Germany and, in between, spending time in academia, including as a postdoctoral researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin).
She has advised clients across a range of competition matters and industries before the EC, national competition authorities and national courts.
Pauline holds a doctoral degree in economics from the Technische Universität Berlin. Pauline has worked on a variety of competition matters before the European Commission, national competition authorities and national courts. She has provided economic advice on mergers (e.g. Téléfonica/E-Plus) as well as in assessments regarding Article 102 disputes, most recently in the lawsuit between Deutsche Telekom and Meta in the context of alleged abuse. Pauline has also advised on multiple cases of private litigation for damages following cartel investigations (automotive, FMCG, energy, financial sector). Further, she co-authored a study for Deutsche Bahn on the economic trade-offs in rail transport.
Pauline’s sector-specific expertise spans automotive, energy, the financial sector, FMCG, media, pharmaceuticals, telecommunication and transport (railway, bus). She holds a doctoral degree in economics from the Technische Universität Berlin and an MSc in Economics from Tilburg University.
In her research, Pauline has focused on the empirical assessment of competition policy, in particular merger control. Her academic research is published in the Economic Journal, the International Journal of Industrial Organization and the Journal of Competition Law and Economics. She has further published in practitioner journals such as the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice. She presented and discussed her work at numerous international conferences and seminars.
As a German national, she is fluent in German and English.
