Theon van Dijk is a Partner at RBB Economics based in The Hague and Brussels. Prior to joining RBB in 2022, Theon was the Chief Economist at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).
Theon has extensive experience (over 20 years) in applying competition and regulation economics to practical cases, mostly as an economic consultant to private parties. He has prepared and presented economic evidence on complex competition cases before the European Commission as well as national competition authorities in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom.
Theon publishes regularly on the economics of merger control, damages calculation, articles 101 and 102 TFEU, sustainability agreements, intellectual property and licensing agreements. He holds a PhD from Maastricht University, where he undertook research on the competitive effects of patent protection. Between 2013 and 2015 Theon was the Chief Economist at the European Patent Office and based in Munich.
