Joan de Solà-Morales is a Partner based in RBB’s Brussels office. He has extensive experience in the economic assessment of mergers, having advised on multiple Phase II investigations before the European Commission, raising horizontal, vertical and conglomerate concerns. Joan has also advised on cases before a large number of national competition authorities, and has given expert testimony before national and arbitration courts on competition issues and other commercial disputes. He also works regularly on the economic analysis of abuse of dominance cases, horizontal agreements, and vertical restraints.

Joan’s experience spans a wide range of sectors, including online retailing, automotive, aircraft components, pharmaceuticals, express delivery services, car rental, airlines, music publishing, insurance, airports, port operations, mobile telephony, and fast-moving consumer goods. Clients that Joan has worked for include Essilor, Luxottica, FedEx, Cargill, Halliburton, Oracle, Hertz, Samsung, and Unilever.

Joan is featured in Who’s Who Legal Competition – Future Leaders (2017 and 2018). He studied economics at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, UAB in Barcelona, and UvA in Amsterdam. Joan is fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
