Francesco Rosati is a Partner based in Brussels and Paris. Francesco has extensive experience advising the merging parties on phase II and significant phase I investigations of mergers, and defendants in high-profile coordinated conduct and abuse of dominance investigations. He has acted as expert witness in numerous high-stakes court and arbitration proceedings in the UK, France, The Netherlands and Sweden, amongst other countries, including in relation to damages claims stemming from over fifteen different cartel decisions. He has given oral evidence at a large number of public hearings before the European Commission and the French competition authority, and has also advised on competition law cases in many other jurisdictions in Europe and across the world.
His experience spans a wide range of industries, such as financial services, telecoms, chemicals, automotive, transport, media, energy, electronics, basic industries, food and drinks, and a number of branded consumer goods. Clients he has recently worked for include Auchan, Ericsson, Hertz, HSBC, Heineken, Huntsman, Imerys, Luxottica, Mars, Moody’s, Nordic Capital, NTN, Panasonic, Plastic Omnium, Procter & Gamble, Scania, Schneider Electric, SFR, Solvay, TF1, TNT Express, Tronox and UGI.
Francesco publishes regularly on the economics of merger control, Article 101 and Article 102 TFEU and has given a number of seminars and trainings on these topics. He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Rome. Before joining RBB he also undertook postdoctoral research at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
