Patrick Smith spoke at the U.S. – E.U. Legal Summit which took place in Brussels on the 16th of June. Patrick joined a panel discussion on how to anticipate the effects of merger control on corporate transactions. The panel discussed the renewed debate surrounding the legal and economic assessment of minority shareholdings, as well as jurisdictional issues such as referrals to regional authorities, and the interaction and cooperation between global agencies. Furthermore, several recent high profile cases have illustrated the acute need for thoughtful preparation for the negotiation of effective remedy packages in cases involving competition concerns. The panel drew on a wealth of experience across private practice and senior agency positions to discuss these issues that are crucial to the planning and successful execution of corporate transactions. For more information, please see here.
