The Russian competition authority dismisses an excessive pricing complaint against Uralkali

In October 2015 the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) closed its abuse of dominance investigation against Uralkali, the only supplier of carnallite in Russia. The case started following a customer complaint that carnallite prices were excessive. After an in-depth review, the authority concluded that Uralkali’s prices did not generate supra-competitive profits and thus were not abusive.RBB economists advised Uralkali throughout the process, prepared several submissions and attended multiple meetings with the FAS officials. The non-confidential version of the decision (in Russian) contains extensive references to the economic methodology and results of the RBB analysis. For more information see here
