The arrival of significant new sources of sports club and league sponsorship and ownership is spreading across the world of sports. At the same time new configurations of leagues and modes of competition are being launched and challenged.
The role of competition law in the management of the new sporting alignments has become ever more important. Recent judgements in European Courts and the challenge of establishing new independent sports regulators have thrown this relationship into stark relief.
On 3 May the Competition Law Forum (CLF) and the British Institute of International and Comparative Laws (BIICL) will run a seminar examining this topic. RBB's Katie Curry will join panellists in the first session to discuss the commercial and economic drivers of the new sporting realignment.
