ACCC gives green light to clay brick JV in Australia

On 18 December 2014, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced that it would not oppose the proposed joint venture between Boral Limited and CSR Limited of their clay brick business in Eastern Australia. The ACCC had previously raised concerns in its Statement of Issues, but eventually reached the conclusion that the proposed joint venture was unlikely to substantially lessen competition in the relevant market. RBB Economics provided economic advice to the parties during the process. The press release can be found here.
