Markus Baldauf joined the London office of RBB Economics in 2004. He has advised clients on numerous investigations before the European Commission and national competition authorities, including those in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland Romania and the UK. Markus co-authored a Handbook of Market Definition for the Austrian competition authority and a report on The Competitive Effects of Buyer Groups for the UK Office of Fair Trading. He has given several presentations on the application of economics to competition law matters to lawyers and case handlers.
Markus specialises in the use of quantitative techniques, including econometric modelling and numerical methods. He is familiar with a range of sectors spanning rail transportation, oil, FMCG, shipping, computer hardware, airlines, distribution systems, pharmaceuticals and telecoms. Markus has advised the parties in a large number of merger filings and most recently in Rail Cargo Austria/MÁV Cargo, StatoilHydro/ConocoPhillips, Ryanair/Aer Lingus and Friesland Foods/Campina.
