Jeroen Algera joined RBB’s office in The Hague in 2005 after obtaining a Masters degree in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Since 2010, Jeroen has been located in RBB’s Melbourne office.
Jeroen has advised clients on many competition cases, both before the European Commission and before several national competition authorities. His experience spans numerous high-profile cases, including the American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia joint business agreement and the Campina/Friesland Foods, Oracle/Sun and Statoil/JET mergers. He also worked on several Australian mergers, such as Link/Registries, Luxottica/Optifashion and Cargill/Goodman Fielder’s Fats & Oils Business.
In addition to mergers, Jeroen also worked on several cartel assignments, including cases in the personal care, bathroom fittings, detergents and beer industries. He worked for an Irish bank following state aid during the global financial crisis and has significant experience with the application of sector specific regulation in the electricity, healthcare, postal, and telecommunications sector. In Australia, he has worked for Telstra on the appropriate approach to determining service lives of Telstra’s fixed network assets.
Jeroen is a native Dutch speaker and fluent in English. He is also a Swiss national and has a good understanding of German.
