Benoît Durand joined RBB Economics in 2008. He has over 10 years of experience in competition economics, and specialises in applied microeconomics and econometrics. Prior to joining RBB, Benoît held various positions in competition agencies, where he was involved in a wide range of competition issues, including market investigations, mergers, horizontal and vertical agreements and abuse of dominant positions. Between 2006 and 2008, Benoît was Economics Director at the UK Competition Commission, where he directed the economic analysis of market investigations and phase-2 mergers. Until 2006, he was a member of the Chief Economist Team at the European Commission Directorate General for Competition, where he contributed to a slew of high-profile investigations. Benoît also worked in private practice in Washington DC, where he applied econometrics for the analysis of competition in various antitrust matters and the estimation of damages in different contexts, but in particular for cartel and monopolisation cases.
